training-header

We are realists at Unicorn Solutions. We know that Health and Safety training is not an easy sell to some staff.

Necessary? Yes. But enjoyable?

That’s why we invest a lot of time developing courses that are engaging and valued by participants. Our trainers are great communicators, but they also know their stuff. Otherwise, we would not be approved by the Chartered Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH).

We can work with you to establish high value quality and H&S protocols. But without trained and motivated staff to implement them, you will not maximise potential improvements to company performance and profitability.

To achieve this, Unicorn Solutions offers a range of training programmes:

iosh_managing_safelyA nationally recognised and certificated training package for managers and supervisors, this flexible course (minimum 24 hours face-to-face contact) explains why health and safety is such an essential part of their job.

Training materials include clear scenarios that managers can relate to, and ready-to-use tools including a board game, DVDs and quizzes.

‘Managing Safely’ won’t turn delegates into safety experts, but it will give them the knowledge and tools to tackle the health and safety issues they’re responsible for.

iosh_working_safely-1Another nationally respected and certificated training package, this one-day course meets government guidelines for introductory health and safety training and is a 100 per cent match to the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘passport’ syllabus.

Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must ‘work safely’ and this course provides that, with jargon-free technical content based on what people need to know in practice. Assessments are built into the training, so there’s no need for follow-on tests later which take up valuable work time.

A half-day course covering all aspects of manual handling and lifting operations, ‘Manual Handling’ identifies hazards, health issues and the control methods required to reduce the likelihood of accidents or incidents.

A half-day course on fire safety awareness for fire wardens or marshals.

It explains what to do in a fire emergency, how to be legally compliant (Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order), what to consider in your Fire Safety Risk Assessment and how to reduce the likelihood of a fire in your workplace.

This half-day course shows how to reduce significantly the risk of falls from heights by applying safe working systems.

It examines the current regulations and explains how to risk assess and plan any working at height, using the safety equipment available, how to inspect working at height equipment / PPE and what best techniques to use when working at height and in rescue situations.

Risk assessments are a legal obligation within the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and must be completed by a competent person.

Delegates on this one day course learn about the six stages of completing a risk assessment: how to identify hazards, estimate and evaluate the risk, introduce relevant controls, record the findings and finally review for suitability. They also undertake a project risk assessment as part of their assessment.

A half-day course looking at the impact of asbestos and the methods used to control it.

Delegates will learn important information about asbestos such as where you are likely to find it, how to identify it, what preventive measures to take and what to do if you discover or disturb asbestos.

Delegates will also receive a face-fit test using a FFP3 respirator (delegates must be clean shaven for the face-fit seal to be 100% effective).
